Removing Processor

The processor is located on the processor memory board. To remove the processor, follow these steps:

  1. Remove the processor memory board from the server.
  2. Slide the locking lever that is located on the backside of the processor memory board.
  3. As the four alignment and locking pins disengage, lift the heat sink away from the board.
  4. Lift the processor socket’s Zero Insertion Force (ZIF) lever, and carefully remove the processor from the processor memory board.
  5. Handle the processor very carefully and place it on an anti-static surface to prevent damage.

Replacing Processor

To replace a processor from the processor memory board, reverse the steps.

Important: Be sure to avoid breaking or bending processor pins. Carefully align the notched corner of the processor with the notched outline on the socket.

Removing PPM

The processor power module is also located on the processor memory board. To remove the PPM module:

  1. Press down on the two levers located on each end.
  2. Lift it from its socket.
