Memory and DIMMs

The ProLiant DL560 server ships standard with 512 or 1,024 megabytes of SDRAM DIMMs, installed in DIMM sockets one and two, which are referred to as Bank A. Sockets three through six constitute Banks B and C. The memory banks and slots are clearly marked on the system board.

Important: Additional SDRAM DIMMs installed must be PC2100 DDR SDRAM, registered, 2.5-volt, 72-bits wide with Error Correction Code, or ECC. No other DIMMs are compatible with the server.

DIMMs must also be installed in pairs and be of the same size. Total system memory can be expanded to a maximum of 12 gigabytes

Removal.

To remove an SDRAM DIMM:

  1. Open the DIMM slot latches
  2. Lift the DIMM from the expansion socket.

Replacement

Important: When installing new or additional SDRAM DIMMs, remember to insert them one at a time, in sequential order. DIMMs must be installed in pairs.
