Hot-Plug Power Supply and Blank

Removal

To remove a hot-plug power supply (rack installation):

  1. Unlock the hinge on the cable management arm located on the back of the server.
  2. Pull the locking pin and swing the arm away from the power supply area.
  3. Remove the shipping screw from the back of the power supply. This screw is not required for server operation. It is required only for shipping.
  4. Unplug the power cord.
  5. Press the port-colored button on the power supply to rotate the handle assembly.
  6. Slide the power supply out of the chassis. The procedure is identical for a redundant power supply.

Replacement

To replace a hot-plug power supply:

  1. Remove the protective cover from the connector pins on the new power supply.
  2. Slide the new power supply into the chassis.
  3. Rotate the handle assembly to lock it into place.
  4. Reconnect the power cable.
  5. Lock the cable management arm into the operating position.
  6. If a hot-plug power supply blank is installed in the bay, pull the locking pin of the cable management arm and swing the arm away from the power supply area. Then rotate the blank out of the chassis.

Important: To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless all bays are populated with either a component or a blank.
