Processor/heatsink and PPM

This is a non-hot plug procedure.

Before you begin

1. Remove the processor module.

Processor and heatsink removal

1. Lift the blue lever up and lift up the processor module cover.
2. Lift the handle to unlock the processor retaining bracket.
3. Insert finger through the front of the processor module and lift the processor locking lever and fully extend it 180 degrees.
4. Lift the processor out of the processor module.

PPM removal

1. Lift the PPM up to disconnect it from the processor board.
2. Lift the PPM out of the server.

PPM installation or replacement

1. Notice that the PPM is keyed so that it can only be inserted one way.
2. Set the PPM on the connector and press firmly to connect it.

Processor installation or replacement

Notice the guidepins located on the bottom of the processor and heatsink assembly, and the matching holes on the processor and heatsink bracket.

1. Set the processor in place.
2. Close the processor locking lever.
3. Close the processor retaining bracket.
4. Close the cover to the processor module.
5. Return the processor module to the chassis.
